Training Peaks, LLC Changes Company Name to Peaksware, LLC

Core product TrainingPeaks.com to remain focused on endurance athletes and coaches, NutriPeaks.com introduced to target professional Dietitians and weight management challenged individuals.

Training Peaks, LLC the leading provider of training software for endurance athletes and coaches, today announced that it is changing its company name to Peaksware, LLC. The primary goals of the name change are to better convey the company's focus on software development for an expanding portion of the health and fitness related market and also to more clearly delineate between the company and its various product categories. What Is a Healthy Diet?

Adequacy. Food provides energy (in form of calories), as well as nutrients (some more than others). Regardless of your food choices, you need enough energy to get through the day and maintain a healthy body. You need energy for the basics-cell growth and maintenance-but also to get through your meetings and appointments and especially for athletic performance. In addition to having adequate energy, there are nutrients essential to life. Whether it's an energy-supplying nutrient like protein, or an essential vitamin or mineral, you need to have take in adequate calories and nutrients from the food you eat to avoid deficiencies.

Balance. We are all looking for balance in our life between work and play, friends and family, savings and expenditures, you name it. This basic principle stands true for your diet as well. You need enough-but not too much-of each type of food and nutrient. You need enough dairy, but not at the expense of fruits and vegetables. You also need enough protein while maintaining adequate carbohydrate and fat. Find that balance your intake to get enough of the essential nutrients.

Energy Control. We established that you need adequate calories and nutrients, as well as a balance between the foods you choose, but you also need to watch your calorie intake to avoid unwanted weight gain or loss. A key component of a healthy diet is supplying what you need in healthy amounts, while maintaining a healthy weight by watching your calorie intake.

Moderation. As "they" say, everything is OK in moderation. While that might not always be true (i.e.: speeding tickets, termites, elicit drug use, etc), it is true for your dietary choices. We all have foods we hate to love-those that may be fried, dipped, smothered or dressed-that we enjoy on a rare occasion, and can do so in moderation. By practicing moderation in your food choices, you can keep your greasy, sticky or chewy desires in check and maintain a healthy diet overall.

Nutrient Density. The concept of nutrient density is the same as "getting the most for your money", "bang for your buck", or in regards to food, more nutrients with fewer calories. Nutrient dense foods are those powerhouse choices that provide an assortment or high amount of essential nutrients without throwing off your calorie control. Vegetables or non-fat dairy are great examples of nutrient dense foods that supply numerous vitamins and minerals for a modest number of calories.

The opposite of nutrient dense foods are energy dense items. These calorie heavy, nutrient light foods supply lots of calories with little else. Good examples include soft drinks, chips and candies.

Variety. You don't wear the same outfit everyday to do the same activity day after day, right? One reason-it would be boring. The same principle applies to the foods you choose, it is important to keep your intake enjoyable and enticing. In addition to the boredom factor, variety ensures two important concepts: you gain an array of nutrients and avoid overdoing a nutrient or contaminant that could be unhealthy in excess. If you eat buttered toast, all day, everyday, you'll show signs of many nutrient deficiencies and get more saturated fat (from the butter) than you need. And, there's the boredom factor...
